What We Do
At Opportunity Sports Foundation, we believe that every young person deserves the chance to experience the power of sport. From sports participation for disabled players experiencing exclusion, through to structured training and employment routes as a captivating alternative to the mainstream, we are changing the game in Lancashire.

Our Mission
We exist to leverage the power of sport and leisure as tools for underserved young people to advance in life. Whatever challenges our young people faced early on, we aim to secure their social welfare and grow their capacities and capabilities. With sport as the vehicle of meaningful inclusion and change, we aim for young people to experience adult transitions towards becoming positive and active participants in society. Through training, education and employment offerings - from football to cricket to Crossfit and beyond - we aim for young people of diverse abilities and who have struggled with complex challenges to achieve their best physical, financial, social and mental well-being

Our Vision
Our ultimate goal is that young people are afforded the opportunities that sport brings for their all-round development - and to free their untapped potential. In the next 10 years, we want to see sport accessed across our areas of operation as an innovative and equalising response to the complex social issues young people face. Through sports participation, training and education, our projects will have long term lasting impacts on the lives of young people in the Northwest. We aim to reach all those who are at the margins to move onto centre pitch in their lives.

Our Values
We believe change starts from the grassroots up. With our team of experienced coaches and volunteers, all with lived-experience and mostly former beneficiaries themselves, we are dedicated to delivering sport and support for any young person who needs us in Lancashire. Our sports coaches are youth workers whose goal is to build a strong rapport and listen to each young person, understand their unique and individual needs and empower them to become the strategists for their own lives. Safeguarding young people stands as the central pillar around which all of our delivery is built. We believe in partnerships to drive impact in the community, and have a wide network of organisations we work with on our tailored projects. Sports is the framework of opportunity that changes lives forever

Case Study
Chantelle has been attending the “Let Kids Play” project for over a year. She is a few years older than the other participants so we advised her to take up our mentoring scheme and she has also completed the Sports Leader Certificate. The session that Chantelle attends is based around netball; Chantelle has developed a love and a passion for the sport and has even attended the England Netball’s Youth Umpire Award as a result of the project. She said “I loved coming to the weekly netball session, I’d never really played it before and it was so much fun! The coach encouraged me to do the sports leader and then she managed to get me on the youth umpiring award! I now help her coach the sessions and plan warm ups and drills by myself”
